I started my IT life as a sysadmin, all the way back on windows nt4.0 days. Things were much rougher back then! Kids these days don’t know how easy they have…
After a few years of that, I became a SQL server admin, running a bunch of SQL 2000, 7 and 6.4. That was fun too! My first major project was to retire the old boxes, and move the SQL 2000 boxes to a 2-node mirror, plus two replicated servers for reporting. It was just me, little jr. Dba with almost no experience, and I pulled it off! I was immensely proud of myself.
That has set the tone for the rest of my career: not being afraid to take on the next big project, the next big challenge. For me, now, that’s writing. Let’s see how I do it!
In my free time, I like to spend time reading, spending time with my family, playing video games or practicing kung-fu.
